Amilcar Guzmán was born in New York City from native Dominican Republic parents. Amilcar is a graduate of DieruffHigh School and LycomingCollege in Wiliamsport, Pennsylvania.He holds Bachelor degrees in Sociology and Psycho logy.
Amilcar serves as a Research and Policy Associate at the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP) in Washington, DC.
In this role, he works to increase the number of low-income students prepared to enroll and succeed in postsecondary education by providing research on the federal GEAR UP and legislative analysis on other higher education policies.
Before his work at NCCEP, Amilcar completed a public policy fellowship from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) in Washington, DC where he divided his time between the Department of Education and Capitol Hill. During his undergraduate years Amilcar excelled both in and out of the classroom.He served in various positions including President of his class and President of the Multicultural Awareness Group.
